Plain Salna


Ingredients


for masala paste,

Oil-2tsp
Fennel seeds-2tsp
Bay leaves-2
Cloves-5
Cardamom-2
Curry leaves
Cinnamon-1
Ginger garlic paste-1tsp
Green chilies-2
Onion-1/2 or shallots-5
Tomato-1/2
Mint leaves-2
Coconut-1/2cup
Salt
Water

for gravy,

Oil-2tsp
Fennel seeds-1/2tsp
Clove-1
Cinnamon-1/2
Onion-1/2
Tomato-1/2
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Coriander powder-1/2tsp
Chilly powder-1/2tsp
Ground masala paste-1 cup
Hot water-1/2cup
Salt
Coriander leaves for garnishing

 
Preparation

·         Heat oil in a pan and add fennel seeds, cloves, bay leaves, cardamom, curry leaves and cinnamon.
·         Saute it for some time and then add ginger garlic paste.
·         Once the raw smell leaves add onion and salt.
·         Saute till it become translucent.
·         Then add tomatoes and mint leaves.
·         Cook until tomatoes become mushy.
·         Then add grated coconut and saute it for 2 minutes on a medium flame.
·         Let it cool down and the grind it to smooth paste by adding little water.
·         Our masala paste is ready.
·         Now heat oil in a pan and add fennel seeds, clove and cinnamon.
·         Saute it for a couple of seconds.
·         Then add onion.
·         Once it become soft add tomato.
·         Then add turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder.
·         Mix well till the raw smell leaves.
·         Now add ground masala paste, hot water and boil it for 3 minutes.
·         Add salt if required.
·         Close the lid and boil it again for 5 minutes.
·         Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve with hot parottas, chapathy, naan and with rice too…
