Cherupayar curry is a traditional curry that can be prepared in a jiffy.



Cherupayar curry

Ingredients

Green gram-1 cup
Chopped shallots or onion-2tsp
Dried red chilly flakes-1tsp or 2tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Coconut oil-1tsp
Curry leaves as required
water
Salt

Preparation

·         Wash and soak green gram for at least 2 hours.
·         Then pressure cook it by adding some water and turmeric powder for about 4 whistles (may vary) on medium flame. Keep it aside
·         Now for the seasoning, heat coconut oil in a pan and add curry leaves, red chilly flakes, and shallots.
·         Saute it for about a minute on medium flame.
·         Add this to the cooked green gram and mix well.
·         Add salt and more water if needed.
