celebrate it with a super delicious sweet…Puran poli is an authentic traditional sweet , in short Indian sweet flatbread stuffed with lentils.
Let’s see how to make this at home.
Ingredients
For making poli,
Wheat
flour-2 cup
All
purpose flour-1/2 cup
Turmeric
powder-1/4tsp
Water
as required
Oil-2tsp
Salt
For
making puran,
Jaggery-1cup
Chana
dal/Bengal gram-1cup
Ghee-2tsp
Cardamom
powder-1/4tsp
Nutmeg
powder-1/4tsp
Preparation
Making of puran,
·
Firstly,
soak chana dal for 3 hours with enough water.
·
Then
pressure cook chana dal with some salt, turmeric powder and oil for 4 to 5
whistles on a medium flame.
·
Once
it done, drain off the water completely using a strainer.
·
Then
transfer this cooked chana dal to a pan and add grated jaggery or you can use
melted jaggery syrup also.

Mix
well until it turns mushy.
·
Switch
off the flame once it starts thickens and hold the shape.
·
Cool
the mixture slightly.
·
Divide
it into equal sized balls.
·
Keep
it aside.
Making of dough,
·
Mix
wheat flour, salt, turmeric powder, oil and water and knead it to make a soft
dough.
·
Pour
some oil over the dough and rest it for at least 30mins.
·
After
30 mins, make equal sized balls.
Making
of puran poli,
·
Take
one dough ball and flatten it, then place one puran ball in the center of the flattened
dough.
·
Stuff
it properly and seal the ends together.
·
Dust
it with flour and roll it to circular shape.
·
Transfer
this rolled poli to a tawa and cook it on a medium flame.
·
Flip
both sides and apply ghee.
Our delicious Puran Poli is ready to
serve.
Note:
If you are making it for the first time, it may break or the filling may come
out…then sprinkle some flour to these parts…
