Navaratri (nine nights) is one of the greatest Hindu festivals. It symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. Navratri takes place at the beginning of October around harvest time and, as the name implies, this festival is celebrated for nine days. Navratri is also known as Durga Puja. This year Navaratri is celebrated from 10th to 18th October.
so, from today onwards I will be sharing some Navaratri special recipes. Today’s recipe is Coconut Burfi. You can make this traditional sweet at home with minimal ingredients that too in less than 30 minutes. Coconut Burfi is one of the most commonly made burfi recipe during festivals. Let’s see how to make this delicious burfi at home.



Coconut Burfi






Ingredients


Desiccated coconut/fresh coconut-1 cup

Sugar-3/4 cup

Milk Powder/fresh cream-1tsp (optional)

Milk-1/2cup

Water-1/2cup

Cardamom Powder-1/4tsp

Ghee-1or 2tsp







Preparation


·         Firstly, take a pan and add sugar, water and milk.

·         Mix well on medium flame until sugar dissolves completely.

·         Keep stirring for approx. 5 to 7 mins.

·         Now add milk powder and mix well on a low flame till you get half string consistency.

·         Now add desiccated coconut, ghee and cardamom powder.

·         Continue to cook until the mixture starts to separate from pan and starts to hold the shape.

·         Transfer this to a greased tray.

·         Allow it to set for 10 mins.

·         Cut them into desired sizes while it is still warm.

·         Store it in an airtight container in refrigerator for a week.
